Cybersecurity is a gruelling field. Our days start one way and end completely differently. We invest countless hours on staying up to date and innovate in our work. We’re all super busy. So why volunteer? How do you find the time to volunteer for hours and why is it well worth your time.

Establishing alliances is a critical success factor for ISC2 Chapters to thrive and grow; the purpose of this conversation is to discuss the experiences from the chapters represented by the panelists and the potential for making strategic partnerships. We’ll guide the dialogue around specific experiences and opportunities partnering with: * ISC2: * To leverage resources for Chapters * ISC2 Chapters: * Joined virtual events with Chapters across the world * Local Chapters from organizations with similar goals * ISACA, Women In Cyber, ISSA, etc. * Academia: * Local schools, colleges and universities with and without cybersecurity programs * Government agencies * To channel current information and resources * CISA, FBI, Infragard, TSA, CIA, etc. * Local businesses * As sponsors and beneficiaries of the ISC2 Chapter goals * Other local organizations for joined events and volunteering opportunities

This session will provide an outline on global trends in cybersecurity policy, update on ISC2’s advocacy activities and a discussion on what this work means for members.

The cybersecurity industry stands at a critical juncture, with the current threat landscape being the most challenging it has been in the past five years. As emerging technology such as artificial intelligence continues to become more prominent and new cybersecurity regulations reach an inflection point, the industry is quickly evolving, and we are having difficulty keeping talent on pace with the demand. ISC2 CEO Clar Rosso will discuss these challenges and reference research-based insights for an insightful discussion around the state of the cybersecurity industry.

Within the ever-growing and changing world of cybersecurity, networking is one aspect that has been important over the years for many professionals. Networking in the sense of communicating, collaborating, and supporting each other and not in the switch, router, and Layer 2 or 3 sense. This particular trait has been influential within the foundation of the ISC2 chapters. The concepts of Connect, Educate, Inspire, and Secure are the pillars of the chapter's foundation and are crucial to its success. In this session, James McQuiggan, CISSP and Chapter President of Central Florida Chapter, which received the 2019 Chapter Recognition Award will discuss the importance of these pillars and how it relates to the Central Florida Chapter. James will also share his insights on best practices, tips and tricks that have been instrumental in the success of the chapter, and its importance to our communities.

We will explore the core elements that contribute to the development and success of emerging security professionals. First, we will define what constitutes effective mentorship by showcasing our successful mentorship program within the ISC2 Singapore Chapter, highlighting its structure, benefits, and success stories. Next, we will delve into the importance of study groups, sharing our experiences and best practices in organizing and managing these groups within our chapter. Finally, we will present our National Volunteer Career Advisory Initiative in Singapore, demonstrating how it provides invaluable career guidance and support to individuals striving to excel in the security field. This session will offer insights and practical advice on implementing similar programs within your own chapters and organizations, fostering the growth of future security leaders.

Did you know that ISC2 chapters across the globe are facing the challenges of building and sustaining a more diverse, equitable and inclusive cyber workforce head on through unique partnerships and grassroots programming within their chapters like the Hellenic chapter’s Women in Cybersecurity: Breaking the Glass Ceiling Conference and the Mexico City chapter’s Women Task Force? In this panel discussion you’ll hear directly from ISC2 chapter leaders and case studies they’ve successfully implemented to move our profession forward. They’ll shed light on the specific diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) challenges cyber professionals face in their regions and discuss the best practices and innovative approaches they’ve implemented to promote DEIB within the cybersecurity industry. These leaders are actively involved in driving positive change and advancing DEIB in cybersecurity and will share insights, experiences and strategies to inspire and educate you about the importance of building these strategies and programming within your own chapter to impact the entire global cyber ecosystem and the industry's effectiveness and resilience.

It is often a challenge to keep your members engaged when they join a committee. Many times their expectations do not match your own, so you need to ensure that your volunteers feel appreciated and respected. During this session, you will learn tips and tricks from ISC2 NJ Chapter Board members on how they manage their individual committees to keep their volunteers engaged and productive. Topics, such as developing a Committee Charter, creating a safe environment, the importance of note taking and other techniques will be discussed.

In this session, I will share how our chapter transformed through brave and innovative leadership, strategic fundraising, and collaboration with other communities and chapters. Learn about our approach to planning and executing successful events, securing sponsorships, and engaging members effectively.

Our second Global Chapter Leaders Summit focuses on learning from seasoned chapter leaders, who will share practical tools and strategies for running a successful chapter, as well as professional development topics including leadership, mentorship, communication and more. In this keynote, Ed Parsons, ISC2 Vice President of Global Markets and Member Relations will reflect on the learnings from Day 1 and those planned for Day 2. He will also share progress and plans for ISC2’s Chapter program.

Whether your chapter is brand new or has been around for some time, operating a chapter can be challenging. In this session, we are going to dive into the operational side of an ISC2 chapter, as well as some of the different technologies and options that you might consider for the various needs your chapter has.
